Sperling Bird Sanctuary Gardening Event

  • Sperling Bird Sanctuary 272 North Pine Street and Wood Avenue North Massapequa, New York, 11758 United States (map)

Event: Help us re-wild a Nassau sump by removing invasive species including mugwort, English ivy, garlic mustard and oriental bittersweet. Removing introduced species helps us make more room for native flora that support pollinators. We’ll also remove litter and do some planting. We might have some Boy Scouts who will be working in small groups with adult guidance.

What to bring: Don garden gloves. Carry water for personal hydration. Tools aren’t necessary, but bring any one of the following tools if you have them: shovel, spade, trowel, hand clippers, loppers

Leader: Guy Jacob
